Former front man and founder of the 90′s underground political punk rock band Twisted Nixon, Punish jobs on making music and art that matters for the thinking man.

Going solo after years of playing front man and guitar thrower for Twisted Nixon (1996-2001) a punk rock band, ASCAP member Johnny Punish is adding to his body of work by writing songs with other artists, penning poems and opt-eds about the issues of the day while painting the picture and adding to the discourse of the 21st century.

In addition to writing and playing music, Punish has done other media including The Bad Brad and Johnny Punish Show a music talk radio podcast show at the Mojo Zone Studio Playa del Carmen Mexico (2006).

After his stint with Twisted Nixon ended in the early 2000?s, Punish disappeared into the jungles of the America’s looking for the meaning of life. His time in the wilderness, or as he refers to it “the enlightening” gave Punish a few survival scars on which he could contrast and compare with his massive wounds incurred during his time in the belly of the beast.

During his travels, he met with all facets of societies both hob-knobbing with elites and serfs alike looking for reasons to explain the disparities, oppression, hate, anger, lies, poverty, misery, murders, hate and war.

Finally flying with the wind, Punish landed with two feet on the ground armed with new experiences and ready to rock n’ share with music that matters.

Educated at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and within the California State University system, Punish knew business well and spent his early adulthood chasing green checks.  Feeling misled and empty, Punish slid down the backside of the economic curve living and working with the underprivileged communities where he currently lives donating his time with kids sports and other community activities that add value to the tribe.

In addition to music, Punish still works in the activist media business and is a syndicated columnist for several activist edge media such as VeteransToday.com

Married for over a quarter century with grown children and a grand son, Punish is no longer at war with the world but a family man who lives in peace.  Through his music, writings, and community activities, Punish continues his fight for justice, human dignity, and respect.

Now his voice a bit more raspy with a tinge of disgust left for racists, haters, and oppressors, Johnny is no longer a punk rocker but a weathered world renaissance worn and traveled man.  Once again back in the artist saddle, Punish continues to create portraits with eyes wide open and his artist guns blazing.

Jaded?  Let’s hope not!   Cynical?  So say some in the spectator seats!  Yet it’s fresh, passionate and real.  Punish simply has no other way.  As he says, “I can only express what I feel and what I see”.

So if you’re a fan of the common man; a passionate person and activist, get back on the Punish band wagon.  Just remember to jump when it’s looking like he’s driving it off the cliff again!
